About Course

Following five modules shall be covered :

1. Definitions and types of compressors

2. Associated items of compressors

3. Steam turbine driven compressors & associated items

4. How to decide the elevation of compressors (all combinations)

5. Piping layout aspects

The “Compressor Piping and Layout Design” course offers participants a comprehensive exploration of the principles, strategies, and considerations involved in designing efficient and safe piping systems for compressors in various industrial applications. This course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to create well-organized compressor piping layouts that ensure optimal performance, reliability, and adherence to industry standards.

Course Objectives: By the end of this course, participants will:

  1. Understand Compressor Fundamentals: Develop a strong understanding of different compressor types, their operating principles, and their specific requirements for efficient piping and layout design.
  2. Learn Piping Codes and Standards: Familiarize themselves with relevant industry codes and standards, such as API 618 for reciprocating compressors and API 617 for centrifugal compressors, to ensure compliance with safety and performance regulations.
  3. Explore Piping System Components: Study the selection and arrangement of components such as suction and discharge piping, pulsation dampeners, filters, separators, and relief valves.
  4. Master Piping System Layouts: Develop skills in creating efficient and optimized piping layouts that minimize pressure drop, vibration, and potential maintenance challenges.
  5. Understand Pulsation and Vibration: Learn about the impact of pulsation and vibration on compressor performance and the techniques for mitigating these effects through proper piping design.
  6. Integrate Safety and Maintenance: Learn how to incorporate safety features, access points, and maintenance considerations into the compressor piping layout.
  7. Collaborate with Multi-Disciplinary Teams: Develop communication skills to effectively collaborate with compressor manufacturers, process engineers, instrumentation specialists, and other stakeholders.

Target Audience: This course is designed for mechanical engineers, piping designers, process engineers, and professionals involved in compressor system design, installation, operation, and maintenance across industries such as petrochemicals, power generation, manufacturing, and oil and gas.

Prerequisites: A fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering principles and piping design concepts is recommended, but the course is designed to accommodate participants with varying levels of experience.
